In three short months The Big Chill Presents has been responsible for kicking Kings X royally up the arse (musically that is) bringing the excellent sounds of Egyptian Lover, Radioclit, Joy Orbison, Ali Renault, Darkstar, Julio Bashmore, Mount Kimbie, Doc Daneeka & a whole host of the UK’s hottest up ‘n’ producers to the Big Chill House and May sees us keep up the pressure with Black Devil Disco Club – live.
Black Devil Disco Club are the best, fact. Originally surfacing as a re-issue of a ‘long-lost’ 70’s Italo disco classic on Rephlex records in 2004 by Black Disco titled ‘Disco Club’, BDDC have gone onto become one of the most in demand purveyors of Italo. The work of French-man Bernard Fevre better known (…or not as the case may be) for his rare electronic masterpiece The Strange World Of Bernard Fevre, BDDC rarely performing live in London so this is a real treat. Fans of BDDC include Morgan Geist of Metro Area, Richard James, Groove Armada, Lindstrom, Alden Tyrell, Emporer Machine, Quiet Village, Pilooski, Paraone & Tacteel, Bryan Ferry, Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion), Nancy Sinatra and Many More!!! Like italo? Like D-I-S-C-O? Like to get cosmic? Well get down to this!
Second on the bill are UK label Citinite who have been putting out records by Gosub, Jimmy Edgar, Dam Funk and many more. They’ll be bringing their DJ Team to spin a selection of US electrofunk, Chicago house, 80s new wave and a sprinkling of Citinite exclusives.
Offsetcircles are three DJs; Kieran Delaney from Offset Festival and Ciaran O’Shea and Thomas Silverman from Experimental Circle Club/Junk. As well as promoting Offset Festival, a hugely successful weekend-long event in London, Delaney has just launched Offset Recordings, with the first release from New Cross post-punk band Fiction. O’Shea and Silverman cut their teeth at the legendary Junk Club and ECC; nights that spawned the likes of The Horrors, These New Puritans and Ipso Facto and becoming so influential that Hedi Slimane based a collection on them. O’Shea also runs cult label Discerror. The DJs play an eclectic set from danceable discordant guitars to forward thinking electronics. Past and future bookings include; Fabric, Corsica Studios, warehouse parties across London plus shows in New York, Bari, Berlin, Rotterdam and Madrid.
