Who would have thought 15 years ago, a group of people, dedicated to bringing eclectic live music, an array of artists and like-minded people together would have come so far? So how to celebrate such a milestone? Well you get together all the tastemaking DJs, influential artists and the visual visionaries who make the Big Chill experience what it is, and you get them to pick one tune that sums up what the festival means to them. Then you put all those tunes of one album and sell it for charity. So…we’ve done just that.

'Musical Box' is something of a winter's fairytale, a calm and detached journey across a frozen snow-covered landscape, punctuated by its haunting glockenspiel theme, simplistic rhythm box and live horns.

Chilled By Nature has been a labour of love over the last ten years. It is the realisation of an ongoing musical vision that has been distilling over time, shaped by a bewildering variety of musical influences, and real life experiences.

The Big Chill's Pete Lawrence has selected his fave grooves and there are loads of treats here, not least Fontella Bass' soul-wrenching vocal on Cinematic Orchestra's 'All That You Give', but there are many more. So go get it!

Big Chill Recordings continues its coolly downtempo series with this new collection. This CD depicts a more jazzed-up, occasionally speeded up, yet always calming side to the imprint's multi-musical leanings.

If you haven't yet noticed, we're celebrating 10 years of The Big Chill this year. And how better let our hair down than to collate all our favourite tracks onto a double CD?

If you're not sure which artist albums coming up you think you'll be into, there is a sampler CD 'TASTER04' to give you just that - a taste...

This spring Big Chill Recordings launches a new compilation series called ‘Take Me Home’. Pete Lawrence has just finished mastering the first edition.
Tracks include contributions from the new Pan Electric project from Fragile State guitarist Matt Coldrick, a trio of tracks from Big Chill forumites The Beaufort Scale, Digitonal and Animat, up and coming Greek producers George Chatzis and Raining Pleasure, Mr Dan's remix of Sebastien Tellier's 'La Ritournelle', Alucidnation's re-make of Canadians Verbrilli Sound, who also appear as Telefuzz (with a guest vocal appearance from Laura B), as well as cuts from Andreas Vollenweider, Jon Hopkins, Lunz, Tom Greenwood and Blu Mar Ten.
Says Pete of the compilation - "I've been aware that there has been a scarcity of good downtempo, listening-based albums since the glut of so called 'chill out' collections that were fashionable in certain circles a few years ago. Given that people are always looking for new, fresh music to listen to at home, or whilst out and about on the ipod or in the car, I've put together a fresh mix, which slots nicely into our new concept for the launch of the 'Take Me Home' series. It's obviously all about quality downtempo music to suit a variety of moods.’

The Big Chill have released a new style of compilation, one that allows a more individualistic view of the music that epitomises the vibe of a Big Chill event, and first up... Mr Scruff.
