BIG CHILL CLASSICS
February 22nd, 2004 by susanna
If you haven’t yet noticed, we’re celebrating 10 years of The Big Chill this year. And how better let our hair down than to collate all our favourite tracks onto a double CD?
The result is ‘Big Chill Classics’, out now on Universal.
Choosing the tracks, meanwhile, wasn’t probably such an easy choice for compiler Pete Lawrence. The Big Chill have worked with well over 1000 artists since 1994, and have given opportunities to artists such as Zero 7, Royksopp, Lemon Jelly, Goldfrapp, Amy Winehouse, Talvin Singh, Mr Scruff, Nitin Sawhney, Tom Middleton and Bent at an early stage in their careers.
But somehow he managed to choose the final 33 tracks – and from Bill Withers to The Bays; from Fleetwood Mac to Lemon Jelly – this CD encapsulates the very essence of the festival.
This 10th Anniversary celebration came in an initial limited edition with a deluxe 128-page booklet.
