Musical Box - the reviews keep coming! You shouldn’t need convincing to check out Pete ‘Chilled By Nature’ Lawrence’s latest EP – currently available exclusively through the Big Chill’s online shop – but if you do, here are some reviews that might just nudge you in the right direction. You’ll be glad you did…

Mixmag

‘The recording name of Pete ‘Big Chill’ Lawrence, this is the very epitome of the chillout. It’s undeniably lovely. There’s a floaty, beachy, peachy original cut from Pete himself, a dubby remix from Bruce Bickerton, and then Ulrich Schnauss drowns his mix in sonic cleverness and Tangerine Dream syle electronica. Magic.’

DJ Mag

‘Chilled By Nature is Pete Lawrence, who returns to the studio to compose what could be his strongest piece to date. ‘Musical Box’ is a calm melodic composition that totally keeps your attention as it meanders bar after bar to its chilled end. Next up we have label mate Bruce ‘Alucidnation’ Bickerton who turns up the dub heat for his re-interpretation, adding new ingredients for something that could easily be released on G-Stone. And, lastly, Berliner Ulrich Schnauss pushes things even further, trademark cinematic production with various peaks and troughs of a chilled nature to complete this package. I’ll even be bold enough to say that music of a chilled nature like this could easily be a highlight in my box for some time.’ (4/5)

Night Magazine

‘More cinematic stylings from Big Chill co-founder Pete Lawrence, with the release of an appropriately wintery composition. ‘Musical Box’ is a journey across a frozen landscape, punctuated by haunting glockenspiel, simplistic rhythm and live horns. Remixes come from Bruce Bickerton, turning up the dub heat for a bouncy re-interpretation, and Ulrich Schnauss, who engages in trademark wide-screen production. Cool.’
