GEORGE CHATZIS – ARTIST PROFILE

George was born in 1979 in the north part of Greece in Kavala.
At the age of six he began studying violin. In the same time he studied percussion and drums with his father John Chatzis.
In 1997-1998 he was a member of the Symphonic Orchestra of Athens and since 2000 he has been a permanent member of the Orchestra Manos Hadjidakis (Orchestra of Colours).
In 2002 he took the First Price in the 1st Pan-Hellenic Competition of Musical Composition with his composition “The Star sign of Cancer” in the category of musical composition: “Electronica/ Ambient/ New Age.
In 2004 he wrote the music for the arrival of The Olympic Flame in the island of Carpathos called “Hymn to Apollo”.
Various of his oeuvres have been performed in the ancient theatre of Deplhi and the Athens Concert Hall by the strings quartet +Kinisis .
He has collaborated with various greek composers for live performances and recordings icluding Mikis Theodorakis and Stavros Xarhakos.
In 2005 he released his first album cd called “Spiritual Icons” with EMI Greece.
