Pepe Braddock – Artist profile

July 6th, 2006 by

Pepe Braddock - Artist profilePepe began his musical career by learning guitar at the age of 14 and playing with various Parisian Jazz Funk bands. It was around this time that he began DJing with a few different hip-hop bands, and also the beginning of his producing career by producing tracks for them.

As raves became larger in the early 90′s he discovered Techno and House music. His first two records were soon to follow by recording under the name ‘Trankilou’ on ‘Ark Recordings’. However with Pepe’s curiosities in sound that was quick to change and he then began recording under PEPE BRADOCK and more recently Panash. His most signifiacant solo releases have been on Kif, Versatile and Atavisme records. He has remixed for luminaries such as Blaze (Lovelee Dae), Iz and Diz (Mouth), Cassius (La Mouche), Cesaria Evora (Angola), Manu Chao (Sol Yia Luna), Alex Gopher (MeMy Baby And I) and the Gotan Project (Santa Maria). That’s some pretty heavy weight names.

His love for a wider range in sound comes through on most of his releases to date. It is not hard to imagine him listening to ‘electric psychedelic jazz’ or old Reggae and Dub from the early seventies, as his production truly emanates a depth and understanding in music from many genres.

Pepe has spent a good part of the last two years DJing around the world, taking his versatile and hypnotic mixing style along with him. The rest of the time you’ll probably find him in the studio where he is regularly working on remixes for the world’s top electronic producers.

His fantastic BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in 2004 made significant waves and Pepe has been an in demand DJ ever since.
