Drop the Bomb – The Second Whorl
January 19th, 2007 by rui
From the moment the choppy guitar intros ‘Drop the Bomb’, you know you’re in for a treat. Excellent production combines crispy drums, a funk-assed bassline and a gorgeous, warm chord progression on the Fender Rhodes for a slice of dancefloor heaven. The arrangement is simple, but when the chords are this sweet and the playing this tight, all you need is groove and this has got it by the bucketload.
A sneaky peak at the band’s biog reveals they’re got form – individual members having played with The Streets, Doves, The Prodigy. The quality of the production suddenly makes sense when you discover that one of the guys (Matt) has worked at Abbey Road too!
A fantastic contribution to Readers Wavs – well worth checking out.
