Get a little bit of early sunshine with Norman Jay, Mad Professor and Coldcut in our special report from The Big Chill Goa. Sneak behind the scenes at The Big Chill House and get the insider scoop on the the Big Chill forum. Plus an exclusive interview with hip hop star Ty, who tells us which tunes get the Chill crowd up and why he felt like an oompa loompa at the Big Chill 2003.
The podcast is presented by The Big Chill’s co-founder Pete Lawrence, and was produced by Karen P with help from a team including roving reporter Anya Dorodeyko.
Pete says "It was fun doing the podcast and great to work with Karen and her team. We’re hoping it’ll become a regular feature and provide an insight into many Big Chill activities and personalities."
Karen says, "I was very excited to be asked to do the Big Chill Podcasts, especially as it allowed me to pull together a wicked team. Big shout to Rui, Anya for help with the interviews, Becky for production & James for engineering. It’s got all the elements that make the perfect podcast & listen out for more to come. Interviews already in the bag from Gilles Peterson, Si Bonobo, Cinematic Orchestra, The Skatalites…"
All the music you’ll hear comes from Readers Wavs. Karen says "I love the Readers Wavs CD & thought the music worked very well on the podcast. I especially loved using Moefoe – ‘Easy To See’ in the Goa feature."
Roving reporter Anya adds "It’s been great fun making the podcast as it involved a lot of contact with the Big Chill crew and musicians who have all been really friendly and interesting people. We’re also hoping to involve readers of the website in the making of this podcast, and have already thought of a few different ways of doing it… I was very impressed by Roedelius who is a busy family man, and a full-time music legend at the same time. He was wearing a hat and a smart suit and looked more like a high-brow author than an electronic musician. Absolutely lovely man and I really look forward to his performance at the Big Chill this year."
