June 6th, 2007 by

SoCo Fat Tuesday line-up newsDrawing on the sights and sounds of one of the greatest musical cities on earth – New Orleans – SoCo Fat Tuesday dons a mask and parties like no other. Expect to enjoy a musical mish-mash of soul, funk, hip hop and disco, bespoke visuals, decadent surroundings and tasty SoCo cocktails and Creole food to boot.

2007 sees a tasty line-up of delectable talent with a disco-charged Friday, a beats-loaded Saturday and a gentle mash-up for Sunday. The line up consists of a musical melting pot including The Nextmen, Soul of Man, DJ Pasta, Idjut Boys, Ashley Beedle, Neon Heights, Greg Wilson, Blackgrass, Skitz, Secret Stealth, Joe Driscoll and many more.

Pitched by the lake, the tent will be decked out in the style of New Orleans, with memorabilia from the city famous for soul music, framed by antique standing lamps, giant decadent mirrors and big Chesterfield sofas to chill out on. Super 8 films and Lomo photography shot in New Orleans will light up the tent and surrounding area.

MUSIC
Big Chill 2005 show-stealers The Nextman are fresh from finishing their new album and the London duo will be showcasing their unique style with a mix of Hip Hop, Reggae and Soul.

Nottingham-based disco maestros Secret Stealth will be throwing down some of their discotastic mash-ups with a taste of funk thrown in for good measure. This part Crazy P, part Fug duo have been touring throughout the year with great success and Big Chill is to be no exception.

Originating from New Orleans, SoCo has forged strong connections with the city’s musicians, having flown artists to the UK to perform at SoCo Fat Tuesday events for the past four years. This year SoCo will continue celebrating the City’s musical heritage by DJ Pasta to perform on the Fat Tuesday stage. DJ Pasta mixes everything from rockabilly and ska to the jazz and blues fare you would expect, hailing from the Big Easy himself. Having recently been touring with “ghetto-tech” organist and New Orleans institution Quintron, this will be Pasta’s second DJ gig for Fat Tuesday.

More transatlantic action comes from New York beatbox and funk maestro Joe Driscoll, showing what earned his debut LP ‘Origin Myths’ rave reviews across the board.

SoCo Fat Tuesday will be announcing the full line up at The Big Chill House launch party on 30th May at Big Chill House. The evening will be filled with funked up music, delicious food and drinks and a Q&A session with the very people who brought Big Chill into our lives.
