Bike Trees and Windmills with Fetzer
July 16th, 2007 by sparky
With the reduction of carbon emissions at the forefront of everyone’s minds, Fetzer highlight the importance of green power and renewable energy with the all-new Fetzer Bicycle Tree. A majestic tree in the park will be festooned with coloured lanterns – powered by the energy created from 15 static exercise bikes under the tree. The Fetzer Lake Light Show will feature a series of striking bright lights converging on an original 1930’s windmill beside the lake. The Fetzer Windmill will pump water from the lake, providing another visual reminder of green power. The windmill, which formed part of the gold medal winning Fetzer Sustainable Winery Garden at this years Chelsea Flower Show, is made of recycled Californian redwood and illustrates the simplicity and beauty of re-using, recycling and using renewable energy.
There will be no better place to relax with a glass of wine and soak up the vibes than in the Fetzer Wine Bar situated within the main bar area. For a taste of California, the bar will be decorated with gnarled grape vines and wild flowers seen in the vineyards at Fetzer in Northern California. The beneficial use of these wildflowers at Fetzer is three-fold; they work as covercrops to provide a habitat for beneficial insects, promote soil health and prevent erosion. This is all part of Fetzer’s sustainable approach to their business which starts in the vineyards and ends ultimately with the consumer.
