Tom Middleton – Lifetracks

August 15th, 2007 by

Tom Middleton - LifetracksWith an agenda of, quite simply, pure emotion in sound, ‘Lifetracks’ is the logical progression from Tom and Mark Pritchard’s seminal 1994 Global Communication work. Each track representing an inspirational journey, experience or location, with beats and grooves rooted in funk, rock, and jazz, accompanied by cyclical Steve Reich style moments.

Tom cites Vangelis, Ennio Morricone, Barry Metheny, Brian Eno, U2, and Massive Attacks arranger, Craig Armstrong as his inspirations on this release, with lyrical melodies, and warm harmonies forming the basis of his music, creating epic instrumental widescreen music for those who dare to dance in cinemas.

Many Big Chillers will have a special memory of Tom’s early AMBA gigs with a full choir, at The Union Chapel, Lulworth Castle, and 2006′s capitvating Eastnor performance with a 21 piece orchestra. Tom calls The Big Chill "the spiritual home of my solo, live, musical projects", so it seems fitting that this year, he peformed his spell bindingly synchronized new AV show for only the second time, with a host of his band buddies; The Bays’ Andy (triggering images from his drumkit), Chris, and Simon, keys supremo Tom ‘Shur-i-kan’ Szirtes, and Charlie ‘Akasha’ Casey on guitar. They were accompanied with stunning visuals by Ben Mason (Red Dog), Nick Hillel (Yeast) and Sean Vicary.

‘Lifetracks’ by Tom Middleton is released on 17th September on Big Chill Recordings.
