Afro-flavoured music & arts events at venues at The Big Chill House for sometime now, so we thought we should have a chat with co-founder, AJ Kwame, to find out a little bit more about their mission statement…

What’s your night called?

What’s the music policy for your night?
Afrobeat, Afrosoul, African Hip-Hop, Broken Beat, Jazz, Breaks, Bashment, reggae, dubstep and Beat Poetry
Who has played in the past, and who’s performing at the next one?
Previous artists: Byron Wallen, Cleveland Watkiss, Wunmi, Randolph Matthews, Charlie Dark, Mpho Skeef, Arun Ghosh, Reality Souljahs, Eric Soul (Afrogroov), Shortman.
Artists at the next Afrikokoa: Sunday May 25th 2008 - Yaaba Funk (10 piece afrobeat band) and Spoonface (folk reggae)

What are you working on at the moment?
Big Chill Festival DJ gig, International Festivals and Afrikokoa Festival for next year.
Highlight of your life so far?
My sons Samuel and Leo.
At a festival - tent, B&B, or hotel for you, and why?
Tent as my kids would enjoy the experience a lot more.
What was your Top Big Chill moment?
Playing with a 21 piece orchestra with my group ‘Runaways’ featuring turntable scratching.
