Hugo Mendez – Biography
DJ, compiler and part of Soundway Records – purveyors of Tropical sounds and rhythms – Host of the legendary ‘Sofrito’ Warehouse Parties in East London.
Sofrito is a club and music collective based in East London. Famed for the legendary Tropical Warehouse Parties, the Sofrito sound – a vibrant mixture of Heavy Afro, Latin, Brazilian and Caribbean Rhythms – has been taken to clubs in France, Spain, Germany, Poland, New York and Australia, as well as across the UK. Check the limited ‘Sofrito Specials’ 12" series, plus the Rhythmagic Orchestra 12" on cult jazz label Impossible Ark – a foray into Latin Jazz with Nostalgia 77′s Ben Lamdin.
