Residents Nick Luscombe and Grant Little return to The Big Chill House for the first Flomotion Live of 2009 on January 21st. The party starts at 8pm (until midnight) and admission is free all night long!
Here we catch-up with one of the men behind Flomotion…
Who are ya?
Nick Luscombe
What’s your night called?
Flomotion Live
What have you been up to, before this?
Flomotion was on XFM for seven years, now it’s on Resonance 104.4FM - Saturdays 8pm.
What’s the music policy for Flomotion?
It’s all about forward thinking music…
Who has played, or is going to play?
So far we have had live shows encompassing jazz, soul, techno/electro…from artists as diverse as Jamie Woon, Nils Petter Molvaer, George Pringle and Mr Hopkinson’s Computer.
If money was no object, and you could book any line-up of DJs and bands living or dead, who would play?
Underground Resistance and Shuggie Otis would support Joni Mitchell performing the whole of “Court and Spark”. Hey that’s actually possible isnt it???
What are your current top 5 tunes?
1.Siriusmo - Simple (I cant stop the siriusmo EP!!!)
2.Brendon Moeller - Changes (Deep…superb track)
3.Kuniyuki Takahashi - One Round (Beautiful, melodic, warm techno)
4.Sam Sparro - Black and Gold (I have been listening to this for over 6 months and still not bored..)
5 Mlle Caro and Franck Garcia - Lost (kind of reminds me of Technique style New Order…)
What three things would your ideal bar have to have?
Great music, great soundsystem and sofas…oh and a few ales…
I’m just on my way to the bar - what I get you?
Baltika lager is doing it for me right now…
Ideal evening chilling at home?
Discovering new music on iTunes, Beatport and blogs…
Favourite places?
Pubs in Mayfair - so many proper old boozers! Also like BFI bar, Concrete on Southbank and The Big Chill’s numerous watering holes.
What are you reading these days?
Newsweek, XLRTR, The Wire and Plan B.
What are you working on at present?
A one off summer event at London’s Royal Opera House!
At a festival - tent, B&B, or hotel for you, and why?
Did B & B once, when it rained so hard I couldn’t get my tent up but its usually camping - festivals are the only time I go camping right now so it makes a nice change.
What was your Top Big Chill moment?
TOO many! Jamie Lidell in 2006 was mindblowing…
