The SolarAid Busker’s Stage
This year on the SolarAid Busker’s Stage you can expect performing pirates, Dr Butlers Hatstand Medicine Band and the debut festival appearance of Another Fine Day’s new acoustic project based around the Hang Drum and the Aray Mbira (there are only 5 of these instruments in the UK).
Once again we are holding open digital auditions for acoustic performers/buskers to get involved on the SolarAid Busker’s Stage at this years Big Chill. There are a number of slots open to the public and submissions are accepted via mp3 on buskers@bigchill.net (please put Buskers in the subject line and send no more than one mp3 - but please feel free to include links to your profile on MySpace, Facebook etc). This is non-genre specific, so beat-boxers, rappers, orchestras and singers can all enter - as long as you can do it well acoustically, and you’re entertaining to all ages, you are welcome!
Winners will be expected to perform a minimum of two forty minute sets over the 3 days (6th-9th August 2009) and they will be given a personal and guest ticket to this years Big Chill, as well as some Big Chill Label releases. There is no specific criteria for performers other than they must be able to perform well acoustically.
If you’d like to get involved, the opening date for submissions is May 1st, and the closing date is June 15th 2009.
Artists performing on the main stages this year include David Byrne, Orbital, Basement Jaxx, Dylan Moran, Russell Howard, Pharoah Sanders and hundreds more, for more info see here.
