Remixers
1. Animat have edited and remixed their original album track exclusively for this release. Their previous single Riverbed Road is featured on the recently released album 15×15, A celebration of 15 years of The Big Chill created as a benefit album for the social enterprise The Big Issue who empower homeless people.
2. The recording artist, music producer and DJ known as Leggo Beast began his musical career as one member of Opik Deconstruction (1992-1995), then as one half of Bullitnuts (Pork Recordings 1995-1999). Leggo Beast produced two albums with Pork Recordings and has released two albums on the Big Chill label, Thunk (2004) and Tales From The Crib (2007). His production work includes remixes for Tosca, Natasha Atlas, Blue States, Jimpster and others.
3. Foundwaves is the remix alias of Sheffield based electronica producer Paul Sleaze (Giovanni Chrome Recordings). His mix uses only sounds and samples from the original sound files, making new loops and waveforms to produce “dark, sexy robot music that’ll enslave your senses on a full moon.” (Blowback)
4. Mistrust, aka Tim Blackburn, has been making music in his bedroom for the last 10 years, occasionally coming out for air. His first release came on the Nishi label, which led to some of his songs being used by a major sports company for a worldwide promotion campaign. His remix of Pitch Black’s Rude Mechanicals was released in 2008 and is now featured on the remix album Rhythm, Sound and Music: Pitch Black remixes (April 2009). He is currently working on new material for release later in 2009.
5. Sleeping Robots is a cross-fertilisation of music ideas from three corners of the globe. Mark from the electronic music capital of the UK, Sheffield, Hari from Rovaniemi on the arctic circle in Finland, and Botan from Kitsuki in southern Japan make up Sleeeping Robots. A chance encounter in a snowbound ferry terminal in Iceland was the meeting place for this unlikely trio and the inspiration for their unique glacial soundscapes. This is the first commercially available Sleeping Robots release.
