We recommend;

  • Red, yellow, blue, and black stage makeup
  • White cream stage makeup
  • Green cream stage makeup
  • Assorted sponges and tissues
  • Something to use for blood (I use red gel food coloring - the kind that comes in a tube. It doesn’t taste bad and it won’t stain skin)
  • Red lipliner or a red watercolor pencil
  • Talcum powder and a face puff

Step 1: Wash your face!

Washing your face will help the makeup stick better.

Step 2: Line your eyes

Line your top and bottom eyelids with red, especially the inner corner. Use a watercolor pencil (found at craft stores), but red lipliner works nice, too.

Step 3: Mix your zombie base

Mix together foundation a few shades lighter than your skin, a little white cream makeup, and a little green stage makeup. You should end up with a nice zombie-ish color.

Step 4: Apply and set

Smear it on your face, your lips, and into your hairline. Don’t worry about getting it even, you’re trying to look splotchy. Then pat it lightly with a little bit of talcum powder to set the makeup. Use an old face puff to apply the powder.

Step 5: Make bruises
To make bruises under your eyes, dab yellow lightly in a spot a little bit bigger than you want the bruises. Next, mix red and blue with a little bit of yellow and dab it on in layers.

Step 6: Finish your lips

Pucker your lips and sponge on the bruise color. When you un-pucker your lips, they’ll look like they have cracks in them.

Step 7: Add splotches

Use a loose sponge to dab on the bruise color to give yourself a splotchy look. Pat it gently with a tissue so it doesn’t look so harsh.

Step 8: Finish and add blood
Add more bruises and set everything with another light coating of baby powder.
Smear on as much blood as you want, and hit the festival!
