Big Chill Festival Overview by ‘Six’
August 16th, 2009 by sparky“The Big Chill Festival this year was a superb success offering all kinds of attractions and treats to discover. We at ‘Six’ were very lucky to cover the event over the Saturday and Sunday. Sadly we missed the Friday, but we were assured it started with a huge bang and being there till the end we can guarantee it ended with a bang.
The Big Chill has defiantly become a trademark festival in the U.K. festival calendar and is not one to be overlooked, they have thought of everything to wet your palate. You can start your day with a delicious breakfast either at your campsite (all of which are all within easy walking distance to the stages0 or choose something from around the world, from one of the various food stands, then follow this by chilling out to some of the delightful chilled music and bask in the lovely English weather and follow with a walk around the festival coming across art installations, including a spectacular tent housing Rankin (one of the best photographers in the world) and his ‘Rankin Live’ project. You can see the full Rankin interview on the video.
Then the choices on offer at The Big Chill are endless, with the option of watching some stand up comedy and with acts like Noel Fielding and Russell Howard it’s very difficult to decide what to do. We were also lucky enough to see and interview superstar DJ Norman Jay, who stated ‘The Big Chill is the best U.K. festival’, after enjoying Normans Set, we bumped into the legendary Max Romeo who played an amazing reggae set.
Just when we thought the festival had reached it’s peak, it hadn’t. As the sun went down and the sky was lit with lanterns, it became a whole different festival. Then came the burning of the wicker man (including fireworks), what more could you want?
We know which festival will be at the top of our list next year, so we hope to see you there.”
