DJ Izem (Groovalizacion) and Movimientos to hit Bristol – check out this free mix!
September 21st, 2009 by sparkyDJ Izem (Groovalizacion) will be joining Cal Jader and DJ Vivo for the inaugural Movimientos Soundsystem party at the Big Chill Bar, Bristol, on Thursday 15th October.
Groovalizacion is a social and artistic initiative started by a collection of DJs, journalists and artists spread around the world with the goal of promoting cultural diversity through music. Their main tool is Groovalizacion web-radio, a musical laboratory broadcasting the choicest cuts of worldwide urban beat and podcasts from the most renowned DJs on the global scene, 24/7.
With the ultimate intention of breaking far flung musical scenes to new audiences, as well as building bridges between peoples of distinct cultures, they are weaving a net that encompasses the traditional and the modern, the eastern and the western all tied together by the groove. As occurs naturally in any big city from London to New York to Berlin to Sao Paolo the ‘melting pot‘ effect throws every new arriving culture together and stirs them up to create new fusions and clashes that form the tapestry of modern urban life. Groovalizacion attempts to simultaneously recreate this facet of the cosmopolitan city through their radio whilst defending the value of every tradition and style that they showcase.
Groovalizacion lynchpin, DJ Izem, pleads guilty to accelerating global warming via blazing tropical-meets-western-grooves mashups from Dublin to Argentina or Brazil. Cumbia, samba, reggae and hip-hop kindle the audio burn igniting a delicious disco inferno. Sweat till you can’t sweat no more.
