alucidnation 'Get Lost'

October 9th, 2009 by

factor26-300dpi1It’s been 5 years or thereabouts since alucidnation’s debut album ‘induction’ was released to great critical acclaim on the Big Chill Label, and since then, a lot has happened in the world and to the music industry and to the man himself. However, some things remain constant, and this is exemplified in the shape of Bruce Bickerton’s pka alucidnation’s follow up, aptly named ‘get lost’.

“The second record is a natural progression from where the last one left off, really. This record has been ‘ready’ in various incarnations since the latter part of 2006, but due to my dithering around and writing newer, better stuff that fitted the record’s general mood it has ended up being delayed for nearly 3 years!”

It’s Bruce’s laconic attitude that informs most of the album’s mood. Most of the tracks that appear are edits from long live pieces, designed to keep a ‘live’ feel to the overall sound. The album will be released on CD and in the digital format initially and then a single and a second set of tracks will be released digitally in August and September.

As with ‘induction’, there are a couple of tracks which feature Bruce’s distinctive multi-tracked vocals ['Solitaire', to name but one, that follows on beautifully from the classic track ‘I'm not Bad" from ‘induction'], but for the most part, the LP is an instrumental affair designed to be listened to after hours in a mellow state. alucidnation fans won’t be disappointed. Neither will newcomers; this is music to immerse your self in fully, truly music to get lost in.

Quotes on alucidnation:

“11/10″ Tom Middleton

“Highly personal, but totally accessible, it is filmic music that tugs at the heartstrings, often melancholic and reflective, often carefree and joyous, but never anything other than totally fresh, unique and inspiring, and a natural soundtrack to life.” Pete Lawrence Big Chill Co-Founder, Musician and DJ

“..a melting pot of lush sounds, gentle arrangements, emotive tunes and incredible atmospheres. In short quite simply beautiful stuff ” MusicTech Magazine 2009

“Fragile, melancholy and extremely sunny ” DJ Pathaan BBC Asian Network
