BIG CHILL PRESENTS 5 QUESTIONS: GIRL UNIT
March 4th, 2010 by AbbyBIG CHILL PRESENTS 5 QUESTIONS: GIRL UNIT
For those that don’t know – give us a brief introduction to who you are and what you do:
I DJ and produce as GIRL UNIT. Primarily, I play house music, although I’d say my sets pretty much explore a lot of house music’s offshoots so you might find yourself hearing anything from Chicago juke to S.A. House to Dutch bubbling beats. I suppose whatever I do play it usually has a pretty intensive dancefloor vibe.
The best thing about what you do is…
I guess that it never really feels like work, playing tracks and producing seems to satisfy a compulsion for me plus music in London is heading off in so many interesting directions right now its allowing me to really push my selection further.

What’s your current top 5 tracks?
1. Rishi Romero – African Forest
2. NGUZUNGUZU – Got U
3. DJ Mike Q ft. Vjuan Allure and Wensy Williams – How You Doin?
4. Jodeci – Freek’n'You(MK Dub)
5. Mike V – Feelings
What are you working on at present?
I’m currently working on an EP to be put out on the Night Slugs label in April as well as a remix for Roulet, a kuduro artist coming out on Buraka Som Sistema’s Enchufada label, and a remix for Marcus Price & Carli which should be out on Palms Out Records very soon.
Finally, you’re playing soon at Big Chill Presents, what can our crowd expect from you?
Strictly Rhythm trax, Brick City club, Dutch house bangers, slow crunk jams, funky/afro house, juke tracks, and no doubt my own productions. Hopefully a good workout too.
