There are several options for sleeping at The Big Chill 2010 – you can bring your own tent to camp (you can check out the locations of all the campsites here), bring a camper-van and stay in the Live-in Vehicle Field, or if you don’t own a tent, or perhaps you want to lighten your load and avoid erection stress with a bit of luxury camping, then we have an array of choices available for you at this year’s festival…

Closes: 12pm Monday 19th July 2010.
Arena
Opens: 5pm Thursday, 10am Fri-Sun
Closes 3am each night.
We have applied to Suffolk Coastal District Council for permission to stay open later on the Monday and close at 5pm. We will find out whether we have been successful in a couple of weeks and will update this information as it is becomes available
Please note that opening times are subject to health and safety inspections and can therefore sometimes be delayed. Please rest assured that we are doing all that we can to open on time and please bear with us
Campsite Facilities
The campsites will be divided into coloured zones (Yellow, Red, Blue, Green and Family) and each zone will have its own facilities including toilets, water points and fire towers.
Zone Managers will be working 24 hours in each zone and will be based near the Fire Tower. There are also teams of security and Campsite Assistance Teams (CATs) in each zone who are there to help you, so please use them. Helpful Assistance Teams (HATs) will also be around, so ask them if you need to!
We have teamed up with Boutique Babysitting to launch the UK’s first pre-booked festival Kids Club for 2-8 year olds. The Boutique Babysitting cozy tipis will be arriving at Latitude this summer offering fully qualified childcare professionals to look after your children in a safe, secure and fun environment, giving you a little bit of time off. More information on how to book is coming soon http://www.boutiquebabysitting.com/
As you enter the campsites, if you would prefer to camp in less crowded areas, the gate stewards can advise you where to go. If a campsite zone is full, they will direct you to an alternative campsite. There is plenty of space in the campsites for the capacity attending and so you should be able to find a space which is comfortable for you. Try to note where you camp in relation to a numbered sign or other fixed point or mark your camp with a flag so that you can find your way back to your tent. Say hello to your neighbours to build a community feeling and provide greater security. Look out for each other.
You cannot drive into the campsites at any time due to fire regulations but there will be some wheelbarrows available to help you transport your belongings from the car parks to the campsites. Look out for the wheelbarrow sheds in the car parks.
You can also ask the CATs inside the campsites if you need help with something.
Facilities such as showers, food traders cash points, the supermarket, left luggage, lockers, welfare tent and first aid are available in the Village next to the Yellow Campsite.
CATs & HATs
The Campsite Assistant Teams (CATS) & Helpful Arena Teams (HATs) are volunteers based in the festival campsites and main arena. CAT & HAT volunteers are there to help you get the most out of your festival 24 hours a day! If you’re having trouble putting up your tent, need directions, are wondering about a performance or the days line-up, are concerned about a group or an individual’s behaviour, need a UV pen to mark your belongings, would like to complain about a build-up of litter, or let us know about facilities which require attention – please contact a CAT or HAT volunteer – they’ll do their best to help!
To contact a CAT – head towards your nearest fire tower or catch them as they patrol around!
The HATs you’ll find dotted around the arena – in the kids area, near the entrances to stages, and keeping a check on the various footbridges.
If you’re interested in volunteering to be a CAT or HAT please visit: www.HotboxEvents.com
Or you can email: info@hotboxevents.com
Or you can just go straight to the online application here: https://hotboxevents.paamapplication.co.uk/
Family Campsite
Family Camping is only open to families that have 16 or unders present.
Children aged 13, 14, 15 or 16 who want to camp in Family Camping will need Full weekend Family camping tickets.
Those with their families that do not wish to stay in the Family Campsite – you will only need the Standard Weekend Camping Ticket.
Family camping will be in Family Camps A and B and Family Campervan zones. There will be a Zone Manager specifically for the Family Campsite.
Family camping will have its own toilets, showers and water point as well as the Little Latitude Tuck Shop selling essential items for you as well as a food trader. There will also be a Left Luggage facility inside Family camping.
Early morning activities will be provided for children to keep them entertained before the main entertainment starts in the arena. Breakfast foods will be available inside the family campsite. You are also of course able to visit the Village for further options.
Family camping doesn’t have its own car park but there will be wheelbarrows available to use to transport your things from the car to the campsite and porters that you can hire to help you. You can get to family camping from entering via any of the campsite entrances but the nearest campsite gate to family camping is Memorial Gate. Ask the CATs to direct you. You cannot drive any vehicle into family camping due to fire restrictions. The layout of the site will always involve a reasonable walk (probably around an average of 10 minutes) to your tent pitch so do consider using a wheelbarrow.
Family Camping has its own arena entrance ensuring that the walk from the campsite to the arena is as short as we can make it for you. Please note though, that this route will not take you past the Village where facilities such as additional showers, cash points, the supermarket, left luggage, lockers, welfare tent, and the hospital are located. To reach the Village from Family camping, there is a short walk (around 10 minutes) along the fire lane through Yellow Camp C. Please ask the CATs to direct you if you need any help finding it.
Although the permanent Hospital is in the village, there are mobile first aid patrols who can come to you should you need help in family camping. If you need any assistance, don’t hesitate to ask any member of staff and they will contact the medics.
In general, no fires including small campfires are allowed in Family Camping. There will be one small area within Family Camping where you will be allowed a small campfire.

The Green Tent Company
Here at Latitude we are very excited to announce the arrival of THE GREEN TENT COMPANY.
Each year we are faced with the mammoth task of cleaning the venue which is usually strewn with huge amounts of used camping equipment including TENTS, SLEEPING BAGS and CAMPING MATS. Until now we have only been able to work with charities in the main to collect good equipment and a vast majority of the remainder end up going straight to LANDFILL because a traditional tent is made up of many different components such as FIBRE GLASS POLES, NYLON ZIPS and METAL PEGS which makes them un-economical to separate for recycling.
We at Latitude are working closely with THE GREEN TENT COMPANY who are the first company in the world to design a stylish, competitively priced tent range made solely from ONE PRODUCT and incorporating a new peg system which prevents them from being left in the ground all with one focus of being environmentally and festival friendly.
Their ground breaking range starts with a 2 man dome tent and is topped by a deluxe 6 man, 3 bedroom version which is tall enough to stand up in.They have even manufactured their SLEEPING BAGS and CAMPING MATS from the same single product making them more festival friendly.
So if you’re going to be purchasing a new tent for this year’s latitude festival please visit www.thegreententcompany.co.uk and help us to reduce our carbon footprint, thus SAVING THE PLANET.

Is there plenty of parking as it says first come first serve?
April 7th, 2010 at 1:04 pm
Hi Mark, there is but space in each car park is limited, so to ensure you can book the car park nearest where you’d like to camp we advise you to book asap. Otherwise, you might end up with a longer walk from car park to campsite than you’d like.

Hi there,
Want to bring my Campervan + 3 friends to the festival. It’s technically a 4 berth, but a VERY tight 4 berth.
Can I put up my awning for additional sleeping/storage space?
or if not, a small tent alongside the camper?
thanks

Hi, We have bought a campervan ticket so we can bring our touring caravan. Do we need to buy a car parking ticket in addition to this as our caravan unhooks from the car?

Hi Fran,
no, you won’t need a car-park ticket as well.
Once you have parked your caravan you will not be able to move your car until you leave. Please click here to download the T&Cs for live-in vehicles.
