Reggae Roast returns for a bank holiday BBQ!

April 8th, 2010 by

reggaerostbbqIts been a year since their last outing to King’s Cross and Reggae Roast are heading back over to The Big Chill House for another legendary Bank Holiday BBQ on Sunday May 2nd. In this time Reggae Roast has secured its position at the forefront of reggae events in the capital with a string of dates with legendary artists such as The Wailers, Collie Buddz and Sly & Robbie, as well as a series of sell out warehouse dances in East London.
This event has become something of a tradition and if the last 2 years are anything to go by, this year’s session is not to be missed. Reggae Roast DJs plus a host of special guest artists will be playing the toughest selection of roots reggae, dancehall, steppers and dubstep on the dance floor, while outside, our roof terrace will be transformed into a tropical paradise, complete with a tiki bar, palm trees anda sizzling jerk chicken barbeque.

Resident DJs Exel & Moodie, who will be joined by a host of special guest artists including a live PA from UK Reggae ambassador; Earl 16. With his distinctive delivery and steadfast conscious messages, singer Earl 16 has been an integral part of the international reggae landscape for three decades. Both in Jamaica and his current London home, Earl always finds just the right producer or team to elicit the rootsy music framework his voice deserves. This has lead to landmark collaborations with the likes of producer and singer Mikey Dread, British electronic-dub/dance producers Dreadzone, and the dub-master Mad Professor. It’s easy to see why he has become such a revered performer and sought-after recording artist.
We are delighted to have Earl 16 onboard, performing an exclusive live set of classic tracks and upfront dub plates from his illustrious recording career. The Big Chill House is the perfect place to spend your bank holiday Sunday with great deals on food and drink (including jerk chicken burgers for £4.50 and mojitos for £5) , comfy seating throughout the venue and a massive sound system across two floors.
This event is FREE all day long so arrive early to avoid disappointment. The last two Reggae Roast BBQ events have reached maximum capacity by 5pm so don’t be late!
