More incredible additions to this year’s line-up…
The Deer Park Stage
Gregory Isaacs
It’s a real honour to welcome Jamaican reggae artist Gregory Isaacs, the man behind Night Nurse, to this year’s Big Chill! Known as The Cool Ruler, thanks to his seductive crooning style, Isaacs draws influence from R&B greats such as Sam Cooke and Percy Sledge and it is estimated that he has released over 500 records in a career spanning (so far) over 50 years!
Patrick Wolf
English singer-songwriter Patrick Wolf mixes electronics and samples with a wide range of instruments and percussion to form his own distinct brand of jazz-folk-electronic fusion, embracing everything from PJ Harvey to Stockhausen along the way.
Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane
We’re delighted to welcome Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane project, which features Patton, backed with an orchestra, a band and a choir, providing vocals for a collection of covers of Italian pop songs from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s . The self-titled (first official) album, Mondo Cane, was released May 4th 2010 on Ipecac Records…
Soundburst Sound Stage
Hot Blood Soundsystem
Hot Blood Soundsystem are Jools Butterfield and Adrian Fillary. Having co-founded Lovebox as a club night in 2002, Butterfield and Fillary have regularly been playing as the Lovebox All-Stars since then. Butterfield ran Hoxton Square’s legendary Blue Note which led on to managing the highly regarded Nuphonic label and serving as Nuphonic’s resident DJ for 10 years. Like Butterfield, Fillary also served his time in the field as Groove Armada’s tour DJ, having got his foot in the door designing their artwork. Similarly the responsibility of sorting out Horse Meat Disco’s artwork led to the opportunity of getting behind the decks at more than a few of their parties and Vogue Balls.
Paradiso
Tomb Crew
Exponents of grime, dubstep, electro, and jungle…in fact, just about anything, Tomb Crew are hot property right now, with (at last count) four UK residencies and gigs all around the world, from Europe to the US.
Global Local
A new addition, Global Local promises an atmosphere of a tropical gypsy wedding in the middle of the carnival where the dust never settles. For over four years Global Local has consistently discovered razor-sharp acts that have seen their work spreading fast across the underground UK music scene. At its core, Global Local is about the remix of cultures rather than straight, traditional music and therefore creates an aura and atmosphere all of its own. Chillers will experience a completely unique journey around the hottest world remixed music, and produce fantastic moments for the intimate crowds, with a mixture of DJs and acts performing everything from Latino funk, Rumba Flamenco, Novo Tropicalia and Electro Gypsy Dub from Macedonia amongst a wide variety of world beats.
