Offset/Circles – Q&A
May 14th, 2010 by sparkyOffset/Circles are three DJs; Kieran Delaney from Offset Festival and Ciaran O’Shea and Thomas Silverman from Experimental Circle Club/Junk. As well as promoting Offset Festival, a hugely successful weekend-long event in London, Delaney has just launched Offset Recordings, with the first release from New Cross post-punk band Fiction. O’Shea and Silverman cut their teeth at the legendary Junk Club and ECC; nights that spawned the likes of The Horrors, These New Puritans and Ipso Facto and becoming so influential that Hedi Slimane based a collection on them. O’Shea also runs cult label Discerror.
Creating a psychic link between all three of us that has managed to keep us out of prison and the hospital.
- Iration Steppas – Running Away
- Deadboy – Heartbreaker
- Vivien Goldman – Launderette
- Death In Plains – Whirlwind (Cosmetics Remix)
- James Chance & The Contortions – Incorrigible (version mix)
What are you working on at present?
A lot of time spent between us working on Offset Festival, with Kieran D tearing his hair out making sure everything runs smoothly leading up to the event this summer and Thomas and myself busy booking for our ECC stage. We’ve also been playing out quite a bit recently over in Italy with the Horrors and some fun and fantastic nights over London.
Finally, you’re playing soon at Big Chill Presents, what can our crowd expect from you?
We favour an eclectic set from danceable discordant guitars to more forward thinking electronic sounds. Early House, Cold Wave synth sounds Kraut, dance rhythms and some self indulgent synth playing and odd sound effects.
Catch Offset/Circles at The Big Chill Presents, Big Chill House on Friday 21st May alongside Black Devil Disco Club (Live), Citinite DJs and Offsetcircle DJs. More info here.
