ActionAid at The Big Chill 2010
June 9th, 2010 by sparkyActionAid doesn’t just hand out aid; they help poor people take control of their lives and end their own poverty for good. People living in poverty don’t want our guilt, they want justice. The Big Chill love the way ActionAid work, and are proud to support them.
This year ActionAid will give Big Chill festival goers the chance to fight global hunger by putting the issue back in the headlines. Right now one billion people are going hungry, that’s more than ever before. But it doesn’t need to be like this. World leaders could easily end world hunger if they got together and made it a priority.
10 years ago hunger was big news. Everyone was talking about it, and world leaders made a promise to halve hunger by 2015. Since then the number of people going hungry has gone up, not down. They will break their promise unless they take urgent action and back a global rescue package at the next UN summit in September.
This year ActionAid are asking you to put hunger back in the headlines. It’s outrageous that one billion people are hungry and politicians could end it if they put their minds to it, so the Big Chill crowd can help out by making hunger front page news. You and your mates will be able to put yourself on the cover of specially created front covers of the Daily Meal and NMH (No More Hunger) by posing with hunger-busting headlines.

Action Aid is a brilliant organisation. We’ve been supporters for ages and most of the money goes to the projects in the developing world (unlike some others where lots of money stays here for admin and fundraising!)
