Friday: Mystery Jets on the Clash Stage
August 7th, 2010 by sparky
Blaine Harrison and his jovial band have long entertained young crowds with their synth-drowned indie love-pop. One thing to note about this performance is the overcrowding of both young and old fighting to see Mystery Jets play instead of headliners Massive Attack. And boy does this performance display their gratitude and worthiness.
The band never fail to inject both a sense of intense nostalgic meloncholia and hyperactive euphoria into their shows. Their playing was seamless as ever tonight on the Clash Stage (designed by Pete Fowler) – and full of fun, frolicks and romantic buoyance. Sampling tracks like ‘Alice Springs’ and ‘Dreaming of Another World’ from their new record ‘Serotonin’ created an uproar of response amongst the swaying audience, but it was old favourites from 2007′s ‘Twenty One’ that stirred up the most active reactions. Tracks such as ‘Young Love’, ‘Flakes’ and ‘Half in Love With Elizabeth’ made for a superb kick start to the weekend for those who had just arrived. Five stars.

mystery jets set last night was immense! The atmosphere was buzzing even though massive attack were playing at the same time. Personally I would choose mystery jets over massive attack any day. Thanks big chill
