Reggae Roast’s Carnival After-party: Sunday 29th August, 3pm – 3am

August 13th, 2010 by

reggaeroastwebAfter the excitement and vibes of Notting Hill Carnival 2010, Reggae Roast will be hosting a free after-party at The Big Chill House, continuing the celebration of Caribbean music with the best roots reggae in the capital.

The session starts early, with a BBQ and chilled-out riddims on the roof terrace before taking on the Carnival atmosphere down on the dance floor throughout the night. This is the third and final Reggae Roast BBQ event of the summer. The last two have had an unbeatable atmosphere and a top quality selection of UK reggae artists, including Earl 16 and Kenny Knots.

This month we are delighted to announce a very special guest DJ / MC duo; Manasseh Sound System & Charjan, who have a long history of tearing up Notting Hill Carnival, ‘clashing’ with legendary sound systems including Jah Shaka & Abbashanti on the back streets of west London since their inception in the mid eighties. These two veterans are the perfect guests for the occasion and are guaranteed to ‘nice up’ the Big Chill House from 11pm onwards for the carnival aftermath.

Manasseh Sound System was founded in South London during 1985. On return from stay in Jamaica, Nick Manasseh occupied the late saturday night slot on Kiss 100 FM for a staggering 12 years. It is fair to say that his show was something of an institution and helped to revive Roots and Reggae music across England and Europe.

Manasseh productions started around the same time and was to become the start of an illustrious career, as he
became responsible for some of the best reggae output from Britain during the 1990s. Manasseh’s well crafted riddim tracks have featured a selection of the most talented singers from JA to the UK, with highlights including Johnny Osbourne’s “Black Star Liner” and Michael Rose’s “No Burial”. Manasseh continues to release killer tracks on the Roots Garden label, while tearing up dance floors with DJ sets featuring his own dubplates and the toughest tracks from his record collection spanning the last 3 decades of Roots music. Manasseh will be joined by Charjan, original MC of the legendary Fat Man Sound System.

Reggae Roast DJs Exel & Moodie alongside MC Ramon Judah will be spinning their famous blend of conscious roots reggae, dancehall and steppers, keeping the crowd ‘skanking’ until the early hours. If you haven’t yet been to a Reggae Roast event this Summer, this one is a must!

The Big Chill House is the perfect place for this marathon all day session, with great deals on food and drink, comfy seating throughout the venue and a massive sound system across 2 floors. Its an ideal place to either avoid the maddens of Notting Hill or continue the festivities with guaranteed good vibes throughout the session.

This event is FREE all night so arrive early to avoid queues. The last few Reggae Roast BBQs have reached maximum capacity so don’t be late!
