Saturday: Monarchy on The Deer Park Stage
August 11th, 2010 by sparky
Monarchy are tipped by various radio DJs and critics alike as one of the next big things for 2011.
Their set today drew a small but eager crowd, sounding like Depeche Mode meets band of the moment Hurts. They clearly fit in to the trend of oppressive synths and smooth pop melodies that have made huge successes of other UK acts like White Lies.
Complete with shirts, suits and creepy black masks, Monarchy’s appeal lies in their elusive masculinity and streamlined style. Very 80s, but also very now, this band can appeal to a plethora of music lovers.
