A refined and unusual spectacle of showmanship and companionship is always to be expected from Mexico City’s Rodrigo y Gabriela. In between writing a film score and a new record, the duo made time to descend on Herefordshire offering an entirely contrasting set to Saturday night’s headliner Kanye West; one of just two summer festival appearances in the UK this year.

They are two friends brought together through a penchant for heavy metal and a love for intricate and frantic acoustic guitar mastery beautfilly displayed in their instrumental style and low-key production.

The end of what was a superb weekend; their raw enthusiasm and natural vigour for their playing, and the musical and emotional crossover of their pairing is nothing short of a remarkable experience. Their inter-song chat was kept to a minimum, which enhanced the voiceless beauty of the performance.

Rodrigo y Gabriela bequeathed a highly memorable fiesta upon The Big Chill; a true celebration passion for guitar-playing of such a high calibre that is  rare and exhilarating and something all music lovers must see.
