Zola Jesus brings gothic pop to the Deer Park Stage

Zola Jesus brought her unique brand of gothic pop to the Deer Park stage earlier this afternoon, on the first full day of The Big Chill 2011.
The Russian-American singer – whose real name is Nika Roza Danilova – arrived on stage wearing a long white cape over a grey dress, combining with her platinum blonde hair to create a serene look.
Danilova soon shattered that illusion though when she begun performing songs from her debut album, the cult success Stridulum II. Stomping along barefoot with her band, she thrashed around the stage and wheeled herself across the floor on a ramp.
She thanked the audience for “being here on this sunny day” in a rare verbal moment minutes before the end of her engaging set.
