Nasty McQuaid – Q&A
October 24th, 2011 by AbbyLondon based Nasty McQuaid brings a high energy mix of tropical bass, dancehall, hip hop and house to clubs around the country. Having been involved in several seminal nights over the last decade, he’s spent the last three years running the Bruk Out nights and playing as resident at the award winning Off Modern club. He’s put on parties and played alongside some of the biggest names in underground dance music, including Diplo, SBTRKT, Justice, Roll Deep, Simian Mobile Disco, Night Slugs, Digital Mystikz, Dizzee Rascal, and memorably, The Wu Tang Clan. He also knows how to do the dance to Cameo‘s wedding classic ‘It’s Like Candy‘.
My Guilty Pleasure:
I burnt out my embarrassment gene years ago. Having said that, not everyone’s gonna love this Pat Benatar song as me….
Pat Benatar – We Live For Love
My top five Hip Hop tracks:
Pretty hard to answer. Probably, in no order
KRS – ONE – MCs Act Like They Don’t Know
Geto Boys – My Mind’s Playing Tricks On Me
OK I took 6. I wanted to take 20. I missed out loads of tracks that are easily as good as these 6. Rats. Special mentions to Biggie, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Missy & Immortal Technique.
The person I idolize most in music:
Fela Kuti
The strangest thing someone’s done to get my attention:
Produced a live mouse from their ear and stuffed it, hard, into my face.
If I wasn’t a DJ, I would be …….
Broke
And to get you all in the spooky mood, here’s a bit of Hip ‘Halloween’ Hop, spooktacular stuff from Crypt keeper!
