The Big Chill Presents… Greenmoney
October 28th, 2011 by AbbyAhead of their performance at The Big Chill Presents Bruk Out’s Halloween Special this Saturday (29th Oct) at The Big Chill House we caught up with hotly in-demand West London production outfit Greenmoney. Comprising of Leo Greenslade of YoYo fame and Alex Phountzi (Bugz In The Attic) the duo have been responsible for dropping some of our favourite productions and remixes over the last 12 months…
Big Chill: Hey guys, can you give us your Top 5 current releases?
Raw vocals over raw beats, nice to see Switch dropping these styles again….
Take your pick of any of the Major Notes material over the last couple of years but we’re choosing this one which drops on the 14th November on our label. Blow your load? Oooohhhh Major!
This tune could be a smash but whoever has to deliver the ‘clean’ version of this might have a job on their hands…
Taken from his ‘Banton Weight EP’ which dropped on our label at the beginning of October, Hardhouse Banton comes through with some rowdy tribal business. Buy on Beatport http://www.beatport.com/track/prep-for-war-original-mix/2702622
Greenmoney Dubs Vol 2 (Sampler) by Greenmoney
Sampler of our next EP which is the second in our dubs series….Calling You, Open Sesame and Boomticka. This will be out in early December..
Big Chill: What has been you best DJ experience?
As Greenmoney we’ve always had great gigs with the Shit The Bed guys down in Bristol. The last time we played there was probably the best when we played alongside Ms Dynamite and Dark Sky to a rammed out venue in St Pauls. Glastonbury 2010 was also pretty special when we played as part of the yOyO lineup which tore down the NYC Downlow area on the Saturday night.
Big Chill… and your worst?
Believe me there have been many but I’m going highlight one of the more embarrassing incidents that took place a little while back at the WHP project in Manchester. When we arrived to play our set we walked up into the stage and Leo went to introduce himself to the DJ playing before us. Unfortunately he failed to spot the stage monitor to the side of the booth and instead of introducing himself with a handshake managed to trip over the monitor, thus launching himself into the DJ who was busy cueing up his next record and in no way prepared to feel the full force of Greenslade’s body hitting him. The action didn’t stop there, after spotting some beers on the other side of the stage Leo again failed to spot the second stage monitor on the other side of the booth and managed to repeat his party trick! Luckily the room was still filling up and only several hundred people witnessed this embarrassing turn of events.
Many thanks guys! You can check out their new mix for Mixpak Records here
