A Doctor’s Orders New Year’s Eve Double Whammy: Chris P Cuts and Mr. Thing!

As tomorrow is the big day, we decided to catch up with TWO of the DJs who’ll be gracing us with their presence and their banging tunes at the Doctor’s Orders New Year’s Eve Party, which takes place at the Big Chill House. We are proud to be hosting Chris P Cuts and Mr. Thing, both The Doctor’s Orders’ residents at On The Real, renowned for tearing up dancefloors wherever they go with their solid gold DJ sets. We. Cannot. Wait.
What’s the track that sums you up?
CPC: Zapp – Computer Love!! Haha
MT: The Isley Brothers “Work To Do”, sums me up 100% at the moment!
What’s your tune of 2011?
CPC: Roots Manuva – Watch Me Dance S-X remix
MT: I’m gonna go with “You” by Evidence, I haven’t got the album yet but I’m waiting on the vinyl. Great DJ Premier production, great video, it’s always on when I’m out and about.
What’s the best experience you’ve had as a DJ?
CPC: Dropping ‘Bonkers’ for Dizzee Rascal in front of 35,000 & DJ’ing before Grooverider at The Big Chill last year. Epic session.
MT: First time I played in Sydney with DJ Vadim was amazing, my first tune was Jehst’s “People Under The Weather” which he’d just given me on test pressing a few days before I’d gone, and it went OFF. To get that reaction to a tune that wasn’t even out yet was amazing and it reminds me why I DJ!
And the worst?
CPC: Anytime I DJ on an Alien & Grief mixer
MT: So many horror stories, but I was playing at a bar in London one night and this guy was giving me shit for what I was playing, he preceeded to start shouting right in my ear and being abusive so I pushed him out the booth. He vanished for a while, then I was putting a tune on the other deck and all of a sudden the music stops. I look round and this dick has put his coat on the deck that was playing. It was the only time I’ve ever had anyone thrown out and I never played there again!
What’s the strangest thing someone’s done to get your attention in a club?
CPC: Dude’s getting naked!! Hahaha, only joking. Probably writing requests on wet tissue. Always works.
MT: I’ve had all the usual bits of paper and phones up against the booth with requests on but i was playing one night and this girl said “you’re doing a great job of pleasing everyone in here, but what about ME?”
