The album has been compiled and sequenced by Big Chill chief - Pete Lawrence, who majestically bridges the gap between classic Folk and modern thoughtful down tempo music, a sound that has become increasingly popular and is now generally dubbed as Folktronica.

However, Folk and its modern manifestation aren't the only genres on The Big Chill album, as it features a number of massive names from the world of Chill-Out and beyond such as Saint Etienne, Nitin Sawhney, Nightmares On Wax and Boards of Canada.

Some of the new music highlights on The Big Chill CD include José González with his recent top 10 hit Heartbeats; which featured in the award winning Sony Bravia ad 'Balls'. Other new material includes Beauty Room's stunning Holding On, UK Soul sensation Jamie Liddell, and Fink's Biscuits; an exquisitely melancholic ode to his days as a tea boy.

Pete Lawrence has also picked a stunning selection of classic songs such as Harpers Bizarre’s feel good anthem 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin'Groovy), John Martyn’s Bless The Weather, Tim Hardin’s Reason To Believe and what Folk tinged album would be complete without Nick Drake, who closes the album perfectly with his upbeat track Hazey Jane II.
