Feast In The City
'It'll be the best party you've ever been to'. Strong words indeed by Dan O'Neill who with Groove Armada's Tom Findlay and a chap called Rob Silver run Feast, a touring entertainment production par excellence. This Saturday, the one-stop all-singing, all-dancing team further crank up their swank credits with an excursion into the 1980s millionaires' hangout, Throgmorton's, in east London.
Quintessential DJ line up aside - Wigan's electro "Credit To The Edit" soulboy Greg Wilson! Bristolian dubfather DJ Derek! Tom 'look at me, listen to me, either way you'll cluck with glee' Findlay! and Frank 'Dope 45s' Tope! - there'll also be sexy cabaret, roaming magicians, the hip-swinging Bikini Beach Band (pictured) plus posh tucker, cocktails and some fine house whites to quaff.
Feast is a concept that combines gastronomies in food and music in a way never before experienced. This weekend, chef Richard Turner (Le Gavroche) will serve up all sorts, from seafood delicacies - oysters, clam chowder, lobster sandwiches - to burgers.
It'll be Feast's fifth party. Their November 2003 debut at Belair House in Dulwich was followed by others at The Cobden Club and Mayfair's In & Out club (see, we told you they did swank), with their spiegel tent the highlight of this summer's Lovebox weekender.
Obviously, should you balk at the entry price, remember this isn't a club night. This is a social for mostly thirtysomethings - although anyone's welcome - who have done (still do) the basement sweatboxes a million times over, but who now and then yearn for a special, glamourous stamping ground to... stamp all over... in decadent attire, to unbeatable tunes, alongside a feisty Feast crowd.
