Fat Freddy's Drop In London - Tickets On Sale Now
Festival favourites Fat Freddy’s Drop return to Britain to bring a little South Pacific soul to the heart of Brixton on Friday 2nd June 2006.2005 was Fat Freddy’s Year. After playing at The Big Chill, they went on to pick up an array of gongs - four at the New Zealand music awards including Album of the Year, Best Live Act at the b-Net NZ Music awards and Best Album at The Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio 1 Worldwide Award, a highly acclaimed world tour and an album that has independently sold over 135,000 copies.
May/June 2006 sees Fat Freddy’s headline their biggest UK tour to date, supporting the third single from their album, Cay’s Crays, a signature Freddy’s skank and the perfect tune to welcome in the UK summer.
For their London date, The Brixton Academy will be turned into a party venue with a superb supporting line-up, including Special Guests Breaks Co-Op as main live support, Zane Lowe’s beats infused folk/rock band who’s beautiful new album The Sound Inside is attracting attention. Zane has been a champion of Freddy’s dropping their singles amongst the likes of Arcade Fire, Guillemots and Kanye West.
An inspired selection of DJs keep the party going from bass heavy Brixton dub-step crew Digital Mystikz in the main room, roots reggae selecta’s DJ Derek, Trojan Sound System in the foyer and rhythm & blues buddies Son Of Dave and the legendary DJ Gaz Mayall keeping the girls jiving till the wee hours...
