D - Fuse
Founded by Michael Faulkner in the mid-1990s, D-Fuse is a group of artists and designers who explore the relationship between image and sound across a range of creative media, from art and architecture to live A/V performances, mobile media, web, print, TV and film.?D-Fuse collaborate with a wide variety of musicians, from electronic artists Scanner and Beck, to contemporary classical composers Steve Reich and the Italian ensemble Alter Ego [who work with Salvatore Sciarrino and Philip Glass].D-Fuse's visual art is screened internationally - at Sonar [Barcelona], onedotzero festivals, Nokia Labs in St Petersburg and Moscow, Mori Arts Center [Tokyo], Eyebeam [NYC], San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Prix Ars Electronica [Linz], and the Lisbon and Valencia biennales. In sept 2006 D-Fuse will have their first solo show at Prestigious Mu Gallery in Einhoven.
Many projects blur the boundaries between art and commerce, such as D-Fuse's recent collaboration with Grammy Award winner Beck to create both the groundbreaking Guero DVD audio/ DVD video and a worldwide tour during which D-Fuse created a unique live mix for each show. D-Fuse have also released 3 other DVDs - D-Tonate_00 [onedotzero/Nowondvd] , D-Fuse vs Nonplace [Nowondvd], D-Fuse Retrospective 2000-2002 [Gasbook].
D-Fuse have just completed a book on VJing,? 'VJ: Audio-Visual Art + VJ Culture' will be published by Laurence King in September 2006. It includes features on a wide range of international VJs + visual artists, along with articles by leading contributors in the field. It will be accompanied with a DVD featuring videos, documentaries and live performances.
D-Fuse's are looking forward to their performances at this Big Chill which?include an A/V performance 'Undercurrent' in the mix media tent, mixing audio and video from their recent 3 month China residency and some vj slots alongside Nightmares on Wax and few other artists.
