Meet the Compères... Nettie

Meet The Compères... Nettie

What's your day job?
I work in Children's Book Publishing.

When and where was your BC compère debut?
Sanctuary Stage, Eastnor 2003 (née Chill Stage 04/05, Castle Stage 06)

What stage are you on?
The Castle Stage on Sunday, aka "The Silly Stage".

What are you personally looking forward to on your stage?
All of them… it's so hard to choose… don't make me choose... gnnnnn... I can't choose... it's too hard… gnnnnnn… pop… now look at what you made me do. OK, Burt Latino & Mavis and Jamie Liddell and Scritti Politti and Lily Allen and Chilled by Nature and The Egg and Guilty Pleasures and the rest. Oh, and The Proclaimers whilst doing the "Proclaimers skipping dance", you know what I mean...

Any embarrassing or difficult compère moments to share?
A LOT! But probably most embarrassing was losing my voice and waking up Sunday with only a whisper. Ooops. I croakingly apologised to the audience saying (truthfully) that I'd started off the festival on the first night with a broken air mattress and thus got a cold. To which most of the field just went "yeeeah, yeeaah!"

Tell us one of your best compère moments.
When the Wurzels played and everyone was jumping around dancing and laughing in the sunshine and I was standing backstage and could see the Wurzels' bottoms as they'd just mooned the field!

If all else fails…
You can blame it on me.

My personal Big Chill highlight so far has been…
Conquering (ish) immense stage fright (Owen, if you're there, please come and get your thank you). Seeing two of my friends fall in love. The ducks on the lake in the mist. Dancing to Love Is In The Air with Sunflower Kate, stuff like that, I'm such a big softie, really.

Top festival tip?
Go to the loo before you really have to go. Head torches are great for looing in the dark! Flush the loo! This is very important! Loo loo! Take That!

Lastly, I'm not posh, I'm…
Danish.
