
Artist Profile - Diesel
Diesel's career started off with playing the local bars and discos in his native west London.Finally getting a break to warm up for Gilles Peterson in 1986. From then on until 1988 playing straight ahead jazz, latin and soul in various spots in and around london.
From 1988 got hit by the house bug and hooked up with dj partner/friend DJ Rocky playing as houses's first DJ duo. During this time both became regulars at the legendary "Shoom Club" run by Danny Rampling and branched out into DJing eclectic sets and all things Balearic.
Regular DJ spots would follow at "Boys Own" parties with Terry Farley and Andrew Weatherall. Also at this time running own night called "Yellow Book" at the Gardening Club from 1989 until 1991.
Soon after Diesel became a regular DJ on the dance network encompassing clubs like Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics, Cream (was resident for 2 years) through out the 90s.
Eventually DJing around the world starting with Ibiza, Europe and then South America, South East Asia, Japan and Australia.
Presently recording under the guise of "X-Press 2" along with rocky and ashley beedle on skint records responsible for "Lazy" feat. David Byrne which became an international hit for them.
Currently working on their live X-press 2 show to promote the new album "Makeshift Feelgood" with a new single forthcoming this summer entitled "Kill 100" which features Rob Jarvey (the music).
Other projects have included the Ballistic Brothers, Yellow Sox and DJ edit label Moton Records, co ran with old friend David Jarvis.
At the moment continuing to dj as X-press 2 as well as solo DJing and due to set up a new night in London under the name "Heavy Disco" with Ashley Beedle.
