State Of Grace
State of Grace is one of those luscious, serene and beautiful songs that enters the blood stream and fills you with a deep sense of serenity. It's a 'good to be alive, good will triumph over evil' kind of song, so appropriately enough this tune has been lovingly re-crafted by the sublime Beauty Room, the Buddha Bar's ubiquitous Al-pha-X and given an up-tempo, beat break out by up and coming producer Tom Quick. It was created by Renaissance man and one of London's most influential people, (according to Time Out, London) Pete Lawrence, for his musical project Chilled By Nature. Chilled By Nature's debut album Under One Sun came out this August on the Big Chill Recordings label.State of Grace was co-written and performed by the amazing and soulful Al Green inspired vocalist Mozez, who first came to Pete Lawrence's attention through his work on the million selling Zero 7 debut album Simple Things. Pete booked Zero 7 for their first festival appearances at The Big Chill festival, which he co-founded with Katrina Larkin over a decade ago.
It is that 'positive, anything is possible' feel that comes across in the music of Chilled By Nature. State of Grace is one of the few lyrical tracks on Under One Sun and as such has a very special place on the album. Pete Lawrence has been working on his debut album for nearly a decade, putting together pieces of music on the side, while he was working on releases for Cooking Vinyl (a classic label which he founded), publishing and editing ON Magazine and then through his time establishing The Big Chill. Under One Sun features performances by the legendary Swingle Singers, various members of The Bays, pianist Jessica Lauren and Egyptian master musician Fathy Salama.
Listen and surrender, you know you want to.

Reviews
"The Big Chill's Pete Lawrence is, as you'd expect, a man with an ear for a nice producer, so no surprise that he's plumped for the none-more-melodic The Beauty Room to rub 'State Of Grace' into something that could have come from Dennis Wilson's muse circa 1974. Think emotive pianos, a luscious vocal performance and more than a dollop of Pacific Ocean Blues and you've got it. Ultra-gorgeous tackle. 4/5"
