Akasha

Akasha

Formed in 1994, in Brixton, Akasha’s first steps came when they were offered a space on a DJ Bizzniss ep, for one track. It was released on Payday recordings, and licensed through Pressure Drop, who in turn recommended them to Wall of Sound.

The Jazadelica E.P. was released on Wall of Sound in Feb 1995, followed by Spanish Fly in ‘96, and Brown Sugar in ‘97.

A few compilations followed, such as the great Wall of Pussy release, and then a first gig on the Jazz World stage at Glastonbury. Their first album ‘Cinematique’ was released in 1998, featuring vocal turns from both Maxi Jazz (Faithless), and Neneh Cherry.

Akasha hit the road, touring Europe, along with a stage invasion of fellow Wall of Sounders, Les Rhythmes Digitales,

They have since left WoS, now releasing on RA Recordings, and got stuck into producing their new album, which they belief contains the true essence of where they’re heading with this project for the future.
