Have you got a couple of minutes to chat - we can walk and talk.
For you five minutes!
Thank you! You really gave that audience something special out there, is it always like that when you perform?
Every gig.
You just said onstage that you haven’t done any other festivals, what’s going on?
I don’t know, my agent’s telling me nobody’s booking me.
After that performance I can’t understand that, the crowd were mad for it. I really liked what you were saying about the state of hip hop.
Terrible!
Why? Tell me a little bit more.
Well the state of hip hop’s not bad it’s the state of rap music, see that’s the business. The radio, what they’re playing - they’ve dumbed everything right down in the music so much. And now, it’s party music but it has no essence. It’s funny but if you listen to errrm 80’s music, or 70’s music, or 80’s pop...even 80’s pop had something about it…had a bit more substance. You know Vienna, Ultravox…it had essence, it meant something.
I’m interested to hear your opinion on politics in music. For me good hip hop used to have some social commentary and consciousness about it. Has that gone?
It’s still there, its’ still there. I think it's the politics in music that’s spoiling the music at the moment. It's politics that is telling record companies and radio stations not to play certain records, and only to play certain styles of record. It’s like cutting the vitamins out of vegetables and giving the pulp to people and expecting them to survive on that.

So who are you liking and respecting at the moment musically?
I respect lots of music. I listen to anything. On Myspace if anyone adds me I’ll listen to their music. I listen to Folk. I’m into Closer to the Edge, Rick Wakeman, down to Fela Kuti over to the Neville Brothers and over to Kate Bush. I always mention Kate Bush. You know I listen to everything.
And are you sticking around for the rest of the festival?
Definitely.
Is there anything in particular you’re hoping to catch?
I’m hoping to catch everything. I’m gonna go to the CDR tent and MC over there for a little while for the Bent brothers. I’m going straight over there now.
