When should I get there?
The Big Chill will again open on Thursday, 31st July. This will mean that you can have four days of Chill instead of three (for the same price) if you should so desire!
Access will be from 10am on the Thursday, and although strictly NO entertainment will be offered that day, food stalls, bars, Body&Soul and three cinemas (showing films from the ICA and BFI Southbank) will be open. It will also give all ticket holders a chance to set up early in order to enjoy every minute of the festival, as well as another full day's relaxation in beautiful Eastnor for the same ticket fee.
Box Office Opening Times:
10am on Thursday and Friday and closes at 2am.
10am on Saturday and closes 12midnight
11am on Sunday and closed at 4pm.
What if I'm in a wheelchair or otherwise disabled?
All information is provided: here
How do I get there?
All travel information will be sent out to you with your tickets and is available online: here
Do you have secure lock-ups for my valuables/bicycle?
Yes we do! CND will provide free, secure lock-ups in every campsite, and to minimize the opportunity for theft we urge all campers to keep any valuables in these lock-ups rather than in their tents.
I would like to perform at the festival this year?
Sadly the deadline for submissions to perform at the festival this year has already passed.
Please contact us from September with regard to the 2009 event.
I would like information on trading at the festival.
Applications for stalls at The Big Chill festival have now closed.
If you have any enquiries relating to stalls at this year's festival, please contact stalls@bigchill.net or telephone 020 7685 0533 (Mondays & Fridays only please)
I’ve bought a ticket, and I can't go - what should I do?
Sadly all tickets are non-refundable.
A site we can recommend is:
www.scarletmist.com
Please be aware that we do not, and cannot support or endorse the sale of tickets above face value. For a start, it will encourage touts onto the site, something we are keen to avoid and we're sure you are too! Please don't scare yourselves/tempt yourselves with the prices quoted on eBay and similar.
Can I leave tickets for friends to collect at the box office?
Everyone must have tickets to show before they get to the box office, so if you are holding tickets for friends please make sure that they have them before they get to the site.
The box offices won't hold tickets for you and anyone arriving without a ticket will be refused entry to the site.
Is the site easy to get around?
There will be 4 different entrances for guests, and each will take you to a car park for your chosen camping area. We don't issue tickets for each area. This is your choice. Family camping is reserved for those with children. Please don't go to this entrance if you don't have children, as you will be turned away. The entrances and campsites will be detailed on the back of your ticket. Please make sure that you go to the right entrance for your chosen area or you could have a long walk ahead of you. Also, if you are meeting friends, ensure that you have all chosen the same camping area. Even though the car parks aren't too far from the campsites you will still have a distance to walk so pack light if possible.
I have a camper van/caravan where do I camp?
Live -in Vehicles are allowed on to site at a surcharge of £40 for a regular live-in vehicle, and £80 for a large live-in vehicle (for descriptions of regular & large, please see below).
N.B. PLEASE BOOK THESE TICKETS IN ADVANCE.
You will not be allowed to camp in the general camping area, but in an area specifically designed for live-in vehicles. This is a Health & Safety regulation.
There are NO power points available on site for live-in vehicles.
Location
All Live-In vehicles and structures that need to be driven onto site will be directed to the Live-In vehicle area. You can attach an awning and erect one tent alongside your vehicle/structure.
Descriptions:
Regular live-in vehicles/structures are: average-sized camper vans and trailor-tents. This would include the typical VW camper van both classic and modern and converted vehicles such as Mercedes Sprinters and ambulances etc which measure no more than seven metres in length.
Live-in vehicles are not "transit vans with a mattress in the back" or "4x4s with the seats folded down".
Large live in vehicle/structure
Tipis, buses/coaches, winnebagos, yurts and caravans that take up a large amount of floor space.
I want to bring/hire a tipi?
TIPIS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR HIRE FROM
www.tangerinefields.co.uk
PODPADS AND BELLEPADS FROM:
www.podpads.com
If you wish to bring your own, then you require a LARGE LIVE-IN VEHICLE PASS £80.
We are coming as a family, is there an area for us?
There will be an area for family camping. Please remember that family camping will tend to be noisy early in the morning, and quiet late at night. Entrance details will be printed on the back of the ticket, we do not allocate tickets for specific campsites. Sorry but family camping will not have a live in vehicle area.
What does Leave No Trace mean?
The Big Chill has a 'Leave No Trace' policy. Please use the recycling and rubbish bins provided in the entertainment area, and also the campsites. You will be given recycling bags on entry to site and they will be available throughout the weekend around the campsites. Please remember that cigarette butts also have to be removed from the ground so please don't drop them! Butt canisters will be available on site.
Where will I find lost property?
On site the info point will keep lost property and be open from 11am-11pm Thursday to Sunday so please try to get there before you leave site.
AFTER THE FESTIVAL:
Please e-mail info@bigchill.net for any info on Lost Property after the event. Please give a clear description of the lost item (colour, size, distinguishing features).
If it is a mobile phone, please provide us with the IMEI number.
We want peace and quiet at night, is there somewhere for us to camp?
There is a quiet camping area in what shall be called ‘South Camping’.
Can I bring my pets?
Sorry, but no. Animals are not allowed due to the wild deer, rabbits and birds in the grounds. It is also a requirement of the license.
Is it okay to have a barbecue, food and drinks?
No fires on site please, or foil barbecues, although barbecues on legs are allowed. This is to protect you, the surroundings and the animals that live here. The site is normally a Deer Park and we have to consider their wellbeing. We're only here for the weekend - please don't spoil it for them. It’s okay to bring food into the camping areas as long as it isn't in glass bottles or containers.
Is it okay to bring my own soundsystem?
Nope. No amplified music and sound systems are allowed on the campsites, but bring your radio and tune into Big Chill FM for 24 hour music entertainment!
When will I be entertained?
The main stages are open from 12noon to 2am Friday and Saturday, with the Media Mix area finishing at 4.30am and the Art Trail open until 3.30am.
On Sunday the entertainment finishes at 3am, with The Media Mix area continuing until 3am. Everybody must leave site by Monday lunchtime.
NOTE: If we were to apply to go later, we'd be seen very much as a 'dance event' (which we are not) and subject to a whole different and more rigorous set of license conditions from the local authority. We would also find things much harder with the tolerant local community.
I would love a drink, where can I get one?
There will be 5 (maybe 6) bars on site. If you require 'take-outs' the bars have containers, but can only serve during licensing hours. Alcohol may not be brought into the main arena. It's okay, however, in the camping areas, as long as it's not in glass bottles.
I need a shower!
All campsites will have showers with hot water!
I forgot to bring batteries, and I'm running out of cash, can you help?
There will be a shop selling groceries and newspapers, we will also have a great selection of food and merchandise stalls. Vegans and vegetarians will be amply catered for. The Big Chill shop is a good meeting place as well as an information point and lost property area. There will also be a cash point machines available.
Is there anything provided for the kids?
The Children's tent, with all manner of entertainment, will be open every day from 11am -6pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
