Very musical and melodic, reinforced with breakbeats, acid lines and floor shaking bass in parts but not afraid of dropping the tempo way down and sending you drifting off in others, this great debut is the result of a long and winding musical climb. Echaskech have absorbed a broad range of influences, starting with classical leanings, when Dominic Hoare and Andy Gillham first met, playing in the same orchestra during their school days. Since discovering the world of dance music, the Echaskech boys have been steadily joining the dots from Kraftwerk to Street Sounds, from Acid House to Techno, developing an unstoppable understanding of dance rhythms. Brothers Simon and Robin Lee are arguably the brothers that made disco fashionable again. They came to prominence, as Faze Action, in the late 90’s with their seminal underground track ‘In The Trees’ from the Nuphonic Records album ‘Plans & Designs’ broke down barriers; house DJs played it alongside jazz DJs and everyone in between. Their follow up album ‘Moving Cities’ saw them break down further barriers with its’ use of Afrobeat and Latin influences. Simon and Robin then began combining their skills and spinning together as the ‘Faze Action DJs’. Expect a party, but also expect the unexpectedSat 26th - Phantom Beats
Since the late 90s Phantom Beats have racked up an impressive array of achievements. Matt and Neil have DJed on 4 continents, been broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (both DJing and live), held down residencies at legendaryclubs and released records that have become classics. Their mash-up DJ style first brought them to the attention of the promoters of Heavenly Jukebox, the birthplace of Big Beat, who shipped them to London. From that point on
their progress was unstoppable, with them helping forge a new UK breakbeat scene and seeing them sell out venues in as far flung places as Tokyo, San Francisco, Melbourne, St Petersburg and Budapest.
